Day by day
Itinerary structure
Arrive, settle in, slow down
Accommodation: Arebbusch Travel Lodge · proposed
Keep your first day light: settle into Windhoek, recover from the flight and get oriented. Arrange the vehicle briefing and handover around your arrival and Namvic’s 08:00–17:00 operating hours; no after-hours handover is assumed. Vehicle model, number, luggage capacity, suitable child restraints and rental terms are confirmed for your family before booking.
The road to the great Namib
Accommodation: Desert Camp · proposed
After the briefing, set off towards Sesriem at your own pace. Allow regular breaks and reach your overnight base in daylight rather than squeezing in every possible stop. Two nights here mean there is no need to combine the transfer with the main dune visit.
Small footsteps, extraordinary landscapes
Accommodation: Desert Camp · second night proposed
Start in line with the public park gate opening and explore the dunes and Deadvlei at a pace suited to the weather and your family. An authorised local shuttle is proposed for the final deep-sand section; do not assume rental permission to drive it yourselves. Park entry and shuttle charges are confirmed separately. Leave the afternoon unhurried, with pool time only where access and conditions have been confirmed.
Desert horizons, then Atlantic air
Accommodation: Alte Brücke Resort · proposed rooms
Follow the desert route towards the coast, allowing time for breaks while keeping a daylight arrival in Swakopmund. Settle into room-based accommodation and enjoy a quiet evening by the sea. The coastal stay is not camping.
A day with no long drive
Accommodation: Alte Brücke Resort · second night proposed
Choose a relaxed day around Swakopmund’s town, shoreline and museum, or request a specialist-operated coastal excursion. Our suggested full-day dolphin cruise and Sandwich Harbour combination is optional and separately quoted, with eligibility checked against each operator’s child-age rules, availability, weather and tides. A shore-based day is an equally good choice.
Into granite country
Accommodation: Ai Aiba Rock Painting Lodge · proposed
Turn inland towards the granite landscapes of Erongo and settle into the proposed lodge base. Keep the remainder of the day free for your family rather than adding another scheduled excursion. Exact family units, child policies and facilities are checked for your dates.
Discover a little, linger a little
Accommodation: Ai Aiba Rock Painting Lodge · second night proposed
Enjoy a full day in Erongo. A lodge-guided scenery and rock-art walk can be requested separately, subject to the children’s ages, lodge rules and weather. Leave room for a quiet afternoon; any preferred pool use requires confirmation of access, hours and supervision arrangements.
A different kind of wide-open
Accommodation: Huab Lodge · proposed
Continue towards the Huab environment in Damaraland. Make the changing landscape the focus of the day and leave time to settle in at the proposed lodge. This is a lodge-based stay, not a remote self-drive expedition or permission to use off-road tracks.
Let the day breathe
Accommodation: Huab Lodge · second night proposed
Spend the day at your own rhythm. A nature activity or seasonal wildlife outing can be requested separately, subject to lodge rules, availability and age restrictions. A quiet day at the lodge is just as valid. No elephant or other wildlife sighting is guaranteed, and no paid activity is included by this route outline.
Towards the waterholes
Accommodation: Etosha Village · proposed
Travel to the proposed base near Andersson Gate. If your arrival and park hours allow, consider a short first independent game drive; otherwise settle in and prepare for tomorrow. There is no promised arrival-day safari to rush the road journey for.
Watch, wait, wonder
Accommodation: Etosha Village · second night proposed
Explore southern Etosha in your rental vehicle, pausing at waterholes and allowing time to watch rather than ticking off a checklist. Observe speed limits, remain on permitted roads and leave before gate closing. A guided lodge or park drive is a separately arranged optional extra, with child-age rules checked first. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Across the park, at wildlife pace
Accommodation: Onguma Bush Camp · proposed
Travel east through Etosha as a wildlife-viewing transfer day, leaving time for sightings without overloading the programme. Plan the crossing around permitted roads and gate hours, then settle into the proposed eastern overnight. Rooming and children’s eligibility remain subject to the lodge’s confirmation.
One last evening in nature
Accommodation: Otjiwa · Eagles Rest proposed; Windhoek alternative
Travel south to the proposed Otjiwa base for a final evening in nature. A lodge activity is optional only if timing and age rules allow. Before this stage is confirmed, Namvic checks your departure flight: if the road journey, vehicle return, airport transfer and check-in margins are insufficient, replace this night with Windhoek. The trip stays fourteen days and thirteen nights.
Home with a shared story
Return the vehicle or vehicles and continue under the agreed airport arrangements. Namvic vehicle handovers operate 08:00–17:00; build in daylight driving, handback, transfer and airline check-in margins. An early flight requires a revised final stage, not a promise to rush from Otjiwa. The final overnight may be in Windhoek instead, retaining thirteen nights.
