Namibia in Rare Light

Stay long enough for the light to change.

The proposed route protects two-night stays at the desert, coast, Mowani and Ongava. Long transfers remain proper travel days, while a full Damaraland day and a full private Etosha day carry the experience. Optional specialist activities stay clearly separate from the core private Namvic journey.

One private journey

Six stays. Four unhurried anchors.

A stylised line from Windhoek to the Namib and Atlantic, then north through granite country and Damaraland to Etosha before returning to the capital.

Leg 1

Windhoek → Sossusvlei

A substantial south-westbound travel day with safe landscape stops as conditions allow.

Leg 2

Sossusvlei → Swakopmund

Treat the Atlantic crossing as a proper travel day rather than a checklist of detours.

Leg 3

Swakopmund → Spitzkoppe

Travel inland to granite country without adding unrelated Cape Cross or Brandberg detours.

Leg 4

Spitzkoppe → Damaraland

Continue to Mowani and settle for two consecutive nights.

Leg 5

Damaraland → Ongava

Travel via Khorixas and Outjo, prioritising a daylight arrival over an unconfirmed game drive.

Leg 6

Ongava → Windhoek

A substantial return. Same-day flight suitability requires a backward check from airport check-in and daylight travel.

Day by day

Eleven days. Space for the landscape.

The journey follows Namibia’s changing light from red dunes and Atlantic horizons to granite outcrops, Damaraland and Etosha’s waterholes, with the long road sectors given proper space.

Meet the Namvic driver-guide for the airport transfer and settle into the first night. The evening remains light-touch after travel. Pickup arrangements, room availability and dinner depend on the confirmed flight and supplier services.

Before you travel

A few things worth knowing.

  • This proposed 11-day/10-night sequence omits Grootberg to protect two consecutive nights at Mowani and a full Damaraland day.
  • Grootberg can be considered only as a separate extension with additional night(s), revised routing and a new written quote; it is not included in this proposal.
  • Long sectors are treated as proper travel days. The route does not add out-of-route Cape Cross or Brandberg detours.
  • Accommodation, room categories, meal plans, services, excursions and sequencing remain requests until suppliers confirm them in writing. Nothing shown online is a booking.
  • The private Namvic guide drives throughout. A suitable 4x4 is allocated on request and availability; no particular premium vehicle model is guaranteed.
  • Airport transfers are included in the proposed arrangements, but pickup, departure and route timing depend on confirmed flights and supplier operations.
  • No wildlife sighting is guaranteed. Specialist excursions, lodge reserve activities and entry fees are included only when the final written quote says so.
